Essay

In this essay I am going to explain the principles and values that underpin the support for the individuals who use my health centre, and evaluate how these principles and values can be applied to the promotion of rights.

In my health centre, if a deaf person came and asked for an appointment I would allow them to see a doctor so that I am not discriminating against people with a hearing disability, but if I did, I may not have anyone who could sign for the patient so they can understand what the doctor says, this may cost me more money so that I can pay for someone to learn sign language so that they can help the deaf community communicate with my doctors. It is important to respect different peoples rights and views so that my health centre is ethical, even though it may cost me more money, I believe that everyone has a right to be able to see a doctor so they can get help. If my health centre is more ethical, then people will feel more comfortable coming to my health centre, and I may get more business because I open my health centre to a range of people in our community.  It is also against the Single Equality Act 2010, which has strengthened protection from discriminating against people with a disability.

If I didn’t respect these rights I could be taken to court, because there are laws against discriminating against people, or my health centre could be shut down. So I think it is better to try and accommodate to every in our community. My ethical views would make sure everyone’s rights are respected because I would not discriminate against someone because they are different, if an elderly woman wanted a appointment a took a bit longer than my other appointments, that would be ok because if I create a friendly environment more people would want to come to my health centre. Or if someone of another ethnicity came to my health centre, they would not be discriminated against, they would be treated equally, we will not tolerate racism in my health centre, everyone is equal. For example, a gay man came into my health centre, and he was not denied to see a doctor, and no one discriminated against him, he was treated as an equal.

My health centre is better than others because we offer free health care and a person centred approach, we are honest with all of our patients, try our hardest to emphasise with everyone and make everyone feel cared for and welcome.

To conclude, in my health centre I would try my hardest to meet everyone’s needs, my health centre will be ethical and not discriminate against certain people, I will have a balance of meeting patients needs and earning money and make sure that everyone feels welcome at my health centre

The first picture of a plug protector keeps children safe because it blocks off the plug sockets when they are not in use so babies cannot play with them or stick things in them, this will reduce the risk of them being electricted or being harmed by plug sockets .

The second picture is of a baby gate, this helps the babies to be safe by ensuring that they stay in one room or area at one time so that they cannot crawl somewhere that can put them into danger, so we can always see what they are doing to ensure they are more safe, this will reduce the risk of us loosing the baby and so that we know what they are doing so they have ess chance of being hurt.

The third picture is a gate covering the fire place, so that babies cannot touch the fire and burn themselves, it will also stop them from falling into the fire or playing with the coal etc, this will reduce the risk of them being burnt or putting the coals into their mouths and choking

The fourth picture protects children by rounding off sharp corners of tables so that children don’t get injured, this will reduce the risk of them being harmed by the sharp edges or being binded by them

I wouldn’t read this if it was on the wall in my staff room because it is dull, there is too much words on there and would hurt my eyes if I read it, it does not grab my attention and there are no pictures, the layout is also boring and it wouldn’t interest me if i walked past it. I would improve this poster by having less big chunks of information and making it short and snappy. I would also put some colour in it and add some pictures and make it more eye friendly. I would have different languages and have a picture of the nursery and of one of the first aider to make it look more friendly

the picture of the nail on the floor is a hazard because the younger years could pick it up and muck around with it, someone could stand on it or could fall on it and it could go into their hand etc. this could be solved by having someone go around the school to make sure that there are no nails on the floor.

the picture of the pole is a hazard because people could trip over it or if it was picked up it could be dropped on your foot or something. this could be solved by having it padlocked to the floor so that it cannot be picked up and maybe have a bright case over it so people can see it when they are walking past.

the picture of the girl leaning into the pond is a hazard because if you fell in yoyu could drown, or get really wet then get a cold. we could solve this problem by possibly locking the door going into that little garden, because I got into their really easily, so could anyone else.

the picture of the plastic that has been ripped can scrath someone who is passing by or even get some of the shorter students in the eye and this can lead to a serious injury, we can solve this hazard by getting the display fixed.

the window is a hazard because it can be slammed onto someones fingers or if someone is hanging their head out the window and they accidently let go of it, it will fall onto their neck, so we can prevent this from happening by getting the window bolted shut or get the window fixed

the picture of the plug socket is a hazard to us becuase you could get electricuted, or some people may bstick things into it, this can be solved by putting a cover over it so people can’t touch it.
